Tsugumomo: episode 1 impression

I was finally able to watch Tsugumomo as it became available on Crunchyroll, 2 episodes in fact. Slated for 12 episodes and based of the manga which began 10 years ago.

Knowing this has Ecchi; I was hoping it wouldn’t be that much as I am not found of that genre anymore. It did have some at the beginning and cliché moments like in the bathroom but nothing over the top that I disliked.

We get introduced to Kazuya before meeting Kiriha who appeared in to his life, I wont say how but mysterious kind of way. From then on it just get’s slightly troublesome and embarrassing for Kazuya in the normal Ecchi kind of way.

This seems to be the third anime that Zero-G has created. I thought the animation was nice, nothing I disliked which was good. The best thing from watching the first episode was the epic music used, from when I heard it I knew the man behind it, Takanashi, Yasuharu. The action scenes were awesome to watch, not only with the animation but the episode soundtrack that was used to accompany it.

When I first saw OP when this was released this was one of the biggest reasons I wanted to check it out as it looked like an entertaining series. And I was pleased with the outcome of the episode.

Like I said in my eromanga sensei impression, I do hope that this series won’t just turn out more ero (pervy), the ecchi that was shown I could tolerate, but the question is for how long will be until possibly something I will see will put me off watching it. Hopefully nothing will.

I would highly recommend this if you like Comedy, Ecchi and Supernatural series.

If you would like to watch this series, you can do so on Crunchyroll.

BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS: Episode 1 Impression

I was really looking forward for watching Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
Not only because I am big fan of Naruto, but I wanted to see what they would produce. Knowing that the Boruto manga first few chapters cover what happened in Boruto: Naruto the movie, it seemed this was going to be an Anime original. Which was fine by me if it was entertaining enough. But what would everyone else thing of this?

The first minute we see Boruto going up against Kawaki, just like in the manga, which shows us a glimpse of what’s to come in this saga.

Screen Shot 2017-04-05 at 16.31.24

The OP was very colourful and I was eager to hear more of KANA-BOON song “Baton Road”. Personally I enjoyed the OP and it’s one of these instance when it get’s me excited to watch the episode. Keeping with the music side of the things, co-composed by Yasuharu Takanashi and -yaiba- once again, but they took a different approach than what they created in Naruto Shippuden. With the different approach of OST, I still think it suited what was shown.

The story is set before Bortuo the Movie and before he joins the Academy, without giving much away I liked the build up showing the aspect of a more modern and how things have changed in Village Hidden in the leaves.

Like any other long series it will obviously going to take it’s time to build up and introduce the cast of characters, even though we see Sarada, Mitsuki and some other familiar faces, we get introduced to a boy named Denki. With Bortuo and Denki interaction we can see what type of character Boruto is as we have only seen Boruto in a movie and I believe we still don’t know much about him as a character.

Overall if you enjoyed Naruto I would highly recommend checking this out unless you are burned out from the series and called it quits when it finished. I think it’s also okay if you have never read/watched Naruto before, but you won’t have the same emotion on the cast of characters that show up from time to time, the ones obviously which were in the Naruto story.

I am excited to see what Studio Pierrot will create with this series and what kind of stories they can create if they cant rely on the manga.

If you would like to watch this series, you can do so on Crunchyroll.

The Laughing Salesman New: Episode 1 Impression

When I first read about The Laughing Salesman New being aired this season and wanted to know more about the series I was shocked to see this is an adaption from a Manga that was created back in 1968. Created by Fujiko Fujio A, his real name Motoo Abiko who is one half duo who created Doraemon with Fujiko F. Fujo, real name Hiroshi Fujimoto. Both Mangaka’s adopted a collaborative style, worked simultaneously on story and artwork. These two mangaka’s were heavily influenced with the works of Osamu Tezuka

Being an old series I thought I would have at least heard about this series before, but you learn something new everyday. There was an anime adoption of the series created back in 1989 but these were 103 short episodes.

Screen Shot 2017-04-03 at 19.48.00

Shin-Ei Animation is back at it again creating a new series. Unsure if you have to have seen the first adaptation, if this is a sequel or just a new adaption. The title does have new in there. (Warau Salesman New). But after watching it I don’t think you have to have seen the first series.

Going in to this knowing nothing and with a Fukuzou quickly explaining who he is and what he does to his customers who are lonely seemed very quirky.

The OP made me acknowledge that this show will not take it self seriously but it doesn’t mean that the episode does have deeper meaning. The episode is split in to two parts, and we see him dealing with two customers experiencing some sort of issue and he tries to help them to have a better outcome.

Screen Shot 2017-04-03 at 19.49.58

There were fantastic animation throughout the episode, very whacky in some places and out of the ordinary but I would say the first customer character design didn’t suit well with me and I was relieved further on in the episode I could cope with the designs. This is only my opinion and you might not care on how they are portrayed off the wall in a comical sense.

What I have learned with my experience is not to judge by pictures you see or the first minutes in to the episode before making up your mind. I am glad I watched all of it and I didn’t drop it.

The question is now would I continue watching it. I did find this funny so I hope it continues being funny but I wonder how long it may take before it may become repetitive with each customer. While writing this I have no idea on the episode count.

This is a strange one that I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy but I did. I recommend giving it a watch if you like Comedy and Drama.

If you would like to watch this series, you can do so on Crunchyroll.

Alice & Zouroku: EPISODE 1 IMPRESSION

This is the first time I have heard about this series and I quickly researched it up.
I have not read the manga as it’s not available in English as of this time but interestingly enough it’s coming out on August 7th in the UK.

Like most series I go in without reading much of the synopsis so I had no idea what I was getting my self into. Obviously I knew the studio behind it was JC Staff and that the director of the series Katsushi Sakurabi has worked on some series that I have enjoyed, even if it was just directing some episodes or storyboarding.

Screen Shot 2017-04-02 at 18.43.53

Just to point out that the first episode is 44 minutes long not that it matters but when I was watching it I felt that the episode was longer than it should be.
The first 10 minutes had a lot of action but I was slightly confused what was going on. When we got introduced to Zouroku, this is where I started to enjoy the flow of the episode and meeting that mysterious girl.

Animation to me was all right; it reminded me of the style of other series that I have watched. I’m not the biggest fan but I don’t dislike it. The CGI on the other hand during the car chase seen was sticking out like a sore thumb, unlike Attack on Titan S2 first episode. Now I personally don’t have the problem but I know majority of the people will probably complain on the CGI that was used.

Screen Shot 2017-04-02 at 18.49.43

The music used in the series was forgettable, nothing I can remember after the episode finish. Obviously this may change later on in the series.

I did enjoy this first episode but I can’t say for sure if I will continue this series until I see what episode 2 has in store. But overall it was an interesting watch and I would recommend giving the first episode a watch if you are in to Adventure, Mystery and Seinen.

If you want to watch this series right now, you can do so by legally watch it on Crunchyroll.

Attack on Titan Season 2: Episode 1 Impression

I do not read the manga, so I have been waiting 4 years since season one ended to continue this series. Even though I was not the biggest fan when it originally aired back in 2013, as a lot of people hyped it so much and calling it the best anime ever. (Each to their own.) And being around YouTube you could potentially get spoiled when the latest episode aired, it was rather annoying watching it back then.

This does not mean that I despise the series, yes I do have some issues as with other series but over all I enjoyed watching it.
We have all been waiting patiently for season 2 to finally air and I was pleased to hear when it got confirmed that it would air this season. I was ready for it to launch on Crunchyroll after waiting 4 years from that cliffhanger from season 1.

Episode 1 or 26 as it’s mentioned of Attack on Titan Season 2 carried on from where Season 1 left off. I will not mention what has happened because at the start of the episode they do a nice recap of what has happened in the last season.

Screen Shot 2017-04-02 at 13.10.17

After the long wait did I enjoy it? Yes I did, I think the pacing of the episode was done well. Enjoyed hearing the OST once again. Not sure if there were any new songs introduced but that music composed by Hiroyuki Sawano got me excited during the scenes.

Animation overall was good, nothing to complain about. Everything seemed to work especially the action scenes as well with the CGI, which didn’t stand out like a sore thumb like in some anime series.

One of the best things of new anime season is to hear/watch the new OP (Opening) and I think everyone wanted to see what Wit Studio would deliver for this season OP and I personally I think it’s great. Nothing will beat the first OP from the series some people may say but visually it looked great and to have Linked Horizon back again to do the OP. Even though you could see what’s coming up by watching the OP, I don’t feel it spoiled anything for non-manga readers, which is always good.

Screen Shot 2017-04-02 at 13.13.04

The ending cliffhanger was decent but didn’t make me want to watch the next episode in a hurry.

If you watched Attack on Titan dubbed you will be happy to know that it’s been confirmed to air on Toonami (USA) on April 29th April 22nd, so you don’t have long to wait.

If you want to watch this series right now, you can do so by legally watch it on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
